Cristo Blanco Viewpoint: The View Everyone Photographs
The Cristo Blanco Viewpoint is one of the most spectacular stops included in the Cusco Tourist Tram route (www.tranviacusco.com). Here the tram makes a special stop so all passengers can get off, walk a few steps, and enjoy one of the most complete and famous panoramic views of the city.
The first thing that stands out is the large 8-meter-tall white Cristo Blanco statue with open arms, completely bright white. The figure sits on a high pedestal and looks impressive against the Andean sky, surrounded by three large wooden crosses and a small park with grass and flowers. From this elevated point (3,619 m / 11,873 ft) you overlook the entire city of Cusco:
- The full Plaza de Armas and historic center with its perfectly, Cusco’s classic red-tiled roofs perfectly aligned.
- The Cathedral, Qoricancha, and the main colonial churches.
- The cobblestone streets and traditional neighborhoods spreading across the valley.
- In the background, the mountains and hills that surround the city, with Sacsayhuamán hill on one side and, on clear days, distant snow-capped peaks.
The contrast is stunning: the white statue stands out against the deep green hills and the ochre colonial rooftops. At sunset (included in several of our tour schedules) the golden light bathes the whole city and the Christ figure seems to glow even brighter – creating one of Cusco’s most iconic postcards.
During the tram stop you have plenty of time to walk around the statue, take photos from different angles, and enjoy the 360° view at your own pace. It is one of our passengers’ favorite moments and the perfect spot for the panoramic photo everyone wants to take home.
Book your tour on the Cusco Tourist Tram and experience this unforgettable viewpoint with an included stop! We look forward to welcoming you aboard.
